GeoSamba’s initial development commenced in 2001 when NGIS Australia identified an opportunity to develop a business aligned web-mapping solution, unique in the web-mapping market place. The huge potential of this endeavour was acknowledged by the Australian Federal Government, granting NGIS a ‘Start’ grant to help fund the development of GeoSamba.
The immediate success of GeoSamba and increasing industry interest drove its accelerated development. In 2005, NGIS launched iintegrate Systems. Managed by NGIS director, Adam Hender, the iintegrate team are dedicated to its ongoing development, ensuring GeoSamba remains an innovative leader in the web-mapping market.
Since its launch GeoSamba has been successfully implemented in over twenty businesses and government agencies. GeoSamba is also being used in a number of research and industry demonstration projects including the Spatial Information Demonstrator Project (SIDP) and the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information’s Regional On-line Spatial Information Emergency Management System Project (EMDP) that will provide numerous benefits in the response to both on- and off-shore incidents.
GeoSamba has been recognised in both the spatial sector and broader industry, having played an integral role in the work completed by NGIS in Great Southern Plantations project recently won the Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards and been nominated as a finalist in the WA Industry and Export Awards.
