The Department of Transport and Regional Services (DOTARS) required a web-mapping solution that could be easily integrated with their existing AusLink website to provide stakeholders in the AusLink project with quick and easy access to project developments and the distribution of funding.

The problem

AusLink is an Australia wide program aimed at achieving better national land transport planning, funding and investment decision-making. As a federal government funded project, with additional funding coming from each state, transparency in the allocation of funding and accountability for the progression of projects is critical.

Communicating this information to stakeholders around Australia, many in remote regional locations, posed a formidable challenge to DOTARS.

The solution

GeoSamba provided the perfect solution. The integration of GeoSamba with the existing AusLink website has provided an easy way for stakeholders to view rail/road/port projects and other project related information in a specific area by simply selecting the area on a map.

Benefits

A key advantage of web-based client communication is that any data entered is immediately available to all stakeholders, regardless of their location. The traditional costs of paper-based communication is eliminated and stakeholder participation is easily facilitated.
